First Year Admission

1) Eligibility Criteria for Admission     

Eligibility Criteria at Institute Level

a) Vacant Seats available after Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) round within sanctioned intake.
b) Management Quota seats.

1.1 Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra State Candidate and Outside Maharashtra State Candidate for admission to first year of degree courses in Engineering/Technology:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam i nation with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics AND Secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND Obtained a non zero score in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at MHT-CET 2008/AIEEE2008.

2) Eligibility criteria of Candidates who have passed/passing Diploma in
     Engineering/Technology and seeking admission to First Year of Engineering/Technology:

(Against Institute Level Seats /vacant seats after completion of CAP)
Diploma holders who have passed the Diploma course in Engineering/Technology with minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English from the Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE or AICTE approved autonomous Polytechnics in Maharashtra State ( for Maharashtra State Candidates) or such polytechnics situate inside/outside the State of Maharashtra (for Outside Maharashtra State Candidates).
Note:
1. To resolve a tie i.e. more than one candidate securing equal aggregate marks in Final year of the Diploma exam, following order of preference shall be adopted: Math’s at SSC, Grand Total at SSC.
2. Eligible Diploma candidates shall be considered for Admission against the Institute level seats/vacant seats existing after completion of the Centralized Admission Process in Unaided Private Institutes only. The details of the admission process for filling application for admission against vacant seats shall be made available in the separate information brochure.

Group and Subgroup of Course for Direct Second Year Admission:
The Group and Subgroup of Diploma course and corresponding Degree course for which direct admission to second year will be given on order of preference is given below. Admissions will be affected to Diploma holders of subgroup for degree courses mentioned in the same subgroup. Thereafter "Vacant Seats", if any will be offered to candidates from other Subgroups (Diploma), under the same Group (Degree). For this purpose Group Merit list will be operated.
Group and Subgroups of Diplomas for which order of preference will be given for admission to Degree courses as per DTE rules.

Course Fee Structure
Demand Draft/ Pay Order of any Nationalized/ Scheduled bank of Rs, 40,998/- (Forty Thousand Nine Hundred and Ninety Eight only) in favor of 'Smt. Indira Gandhi College of Engineering' payable at Navi Mumbai.

Note: The fees for the Academic Year 2008-09 is finalised by the Shikshan Shulka Samiti vide its Letter No. SSS (H&T) / Final Fee / 2008-09 / 3379 dated 25-11-2008. The institute is collecting interim fees for the Academic Year 2009-10 as per the interim fees displayed by the Shikshan Shulka Samiti on its web site.The final fees for the Academic Year 2009-10 will be finalised by the Samiti within due course and become applicable to all newly admitted students of the Academic Year 2009-10.

ACADEMIC INCENTIVES

College is Initiating
1) Fee concession to the meritorious students taking admission to 1st year (up to 5% of intake capacity). For A. Y. 2008 -09 students having CET score above 180 will be eligible for college scholarship/concessions. For more details contact admission counter.
2) Fee concession to topper of each branch in each year
3) College is liasoning the scholarship from sources (like Sir Ratan Tata Trust, ANGC College) to the meritorious students.

ADMISSION PROCESS FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS

(A) Issue of Application Form & Information Brochure:
Application forms for admission under Management Quota and Seats remaining vacant after Cap round will be available in college office between 9.30 am& 5 pm from 22nd June 2008 onwards.
(B) List of documents to be attached along with Application Form:
Candidates seeking admissions must submit Application Form completed in all respects in office as per schedule / dates announced by Principal of the college. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
The copies of certificate attached should be attested by Principal of school/college from which candidate has passed the qualifying examination or Gazetted officer or Special Executive Magistrate or Teaching staff of Government college not below rank of lecturer. Original certificates need not be attached with application form
(C) Documents to be submitted for Admission
Attested copies of the following documents are to be submitted with application form:
1.  SSC (STD X) mark sheet + 5 sets Photocopy.
2.  HSC (STD XII) mark sheet + 5 sets Photocopy. (Optional for Direct S. E)
3.  School leaving certificate after passing HSC (STD XII) + 5 sets Photocopy.
4.  CET or AIEEE Merit card + 5 sets Photocopy. (Optional for Direct S. E)
5.  For Backward Class Candidates: Caste Certificate/ Validity certificate if claimed + 4 sets Photocopy.
6.  For OMS HSC Students & OMS Diploma Students:
     i) Eligibility Certificate from University of Mumbai. + 5 sets Photocopy
     ii) Migration Certificate+ 5 sets Photocopy
7.  Sons and Daughters of NRI: Eligibility certificate from university of Mumbai & Certificate/Proof of NRI
8.  One passport size photograph
9.  Any other document needed as per claim of student+4 sets  Photocopy
10. Diploma mark sheet/certificate for direct SE students + 5 sets  Photocopy
Rules for Cancellation of Admission

1. Cancellation of admission and refund of fees under Management Quota:
If any student after seeking the admission under Management Quota decides to cancel the admission for any reason, the refund of fees will be as per following rules. It is made clear that application for cancellation will be considered if and only if the admission is taken provisionally by paying the prescribed tuition fees & submitting the original documents like S.S.C/ H.S.C Mark sheets, Leaving Certificate, Eligibility certificate, Migration certificate, Domicile certificate etc. as applicable. In case candidate fails to submit any of the said original documents within the permissible time limit (i.e. four working days from the date of admission) the admission shall be treated as cancelled and such candidate is not entitled for refund of fees.
The candidates admitted under Management Quota, for canceling the admission shall apply in Performa 'B' only (Cancellation from is available office).

2. Cancellation of admission and refund of fees under Centralized Allotment Process:
Refund of fees under this category will be as per rules framed by DTE from time of time.

Issue of L.C. and other Certificates:
Request for Leaving Certificates or Character Certificate, should be made in writing at least seven days in advance stating General Register number, class section year and date of leaving.
Certificates will be issued only if the tuition fees due are fully paid, all the library books returned and identity Card surrendered.

Leaving certificates for the students who have failed or who wish to discontinue their studies, will be issued only on submission of written application duly signed by the parents/guardians of students. A fee of Rs. 100/- need to be paid as per the University rules, if L.C is asked within a year on leaving the institution. Thereafter Rs. 50/- charged for every year subject to a maximum of Rs. 200/-
A fee of Rs. 500/- will be charged for issuing duplicate L.C in the event of having lost or misplaced original L.C provided the applicant produces an affidavit from the Presidency Magistrate.

Refund of Deposit:
Refundable deposit amount will be paid to student on submission of original Fee receipt within a year from the date of leaving the college or due to either discontinuing studies or after passing the degree course. If no claim is made within a year, the amount will be treated as lapsed and transferred to institution funds.

Admission in Other Institutes:
A student who has secured admission in this Institution, cannot take admission in any other institute in between the course without the permission of the Principal, in such case student shall be liable for failure or discontinuity from the college.

Notice Boards:
All students are required to read the notice boards daily for last dates of payment of fees, return of library books, submission of term work & examination forms, shortage of attendance, academic I progress, schedule of class tests and dates of university examination etc. failing to do so may lead them into serious troubles byway of fines or other consequences.
It will be the sole responsibility of the students and their parents/ guardians to keep themselves informed with the notices put up by the institute time to time.

Miscellaneous:
Head of the institution may refer the appropriate medical authority for ascertaining the physical fitness of the candidate.
Head of the institution may verify the antecedents of the candidate through the appropriate police authority.

Change in rules:
The general rules enumerated above may be modified or altered at any time by Principal or Management.
